Clarke, Harry

Born Hull 1891. Husband of Eva Clarke (nee Dowson), of 61, Carter St., Goole.
Remus was a British Cargo Steamer of 1,079 tons built in 1908 by J. Fullerton & Co., Paisley. On the 23rd February 1918 she struck a mine laid by German submarine UC-59 and sunk. 5 men lost. Port side lifeboat was destroyed in explosion. Starboard lifeboat capsized, was righted by the 12 survivors who were then picked up by a naval vessel
