Born Hull 1891. Son of Patrick and Lucy Clarke, at 1, Providence Terrace, Liverpool Street, Hull.

Worked as a Grocer Assistant and salesman. Described as 5 foot, 8 inches tall, 36.5 inch chest, 128 lbs weight, good physcial development.

Enlisted at Hull, on 4/5/1915. Posted to France, on 30/8/1916. Served in the 7th East Yorkshire Regiment. Wounded in the abdomen and thigh, on 31/12/1916. Invalided to England. Discharged on 22/2/1918. He had served in the army for 1 year and 295 days. Awarded Silver War Badge (No: 332590). Died at Hull, on 06/11/1918, aged 27.

His army effects were left to his mother, Lucy Clarke
