HE ENLSITED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 11802, 7TH LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. WOUNDED IN BOTH ARMS, HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 07/03/1916, AT POPERINGE, AGE 21. HE IS BURIED AT LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “UNTIL THE DAY DAWNS AND THE SHADOWS FLEE AWAY”
