BORN HULL 1898. YOUNGEST SON OF WILLIAM HENRY CLAYTON (1868-1938) & SARAH ANN CLAYTON, OF WYKE STREET, 78 NEWBRIDGE ROAD, AND 8, WILTON STREET, HULL (CWGC &  WAR PENSION ADDRESS). ONE OF TWO SONS. SON OF A DOCK LABOURER. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE 51ST ROYAL FUSILIERS (GRADUATE BATTALION). HE DIED OF PNEUMONIA, AT CAMBRIDGE, ON 13/05/1918, AGED 20. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, WILLIAM. HE IS BURIED AT HULL HEDON ROAD CEMETERY.
HIS ONLY BROTHER, PERCY CLAYTON (1893-1954) ALSO SERVED AND SURVIVED THE WAR.
