Coates, George William

Born Driffield, 1885. A single man. He lived at 7 Ellen’s Villas, Holland Street, Hull. A regular soldier, with the 2nd King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. His brother served in the same regiment, residing at 5 Marion’s Crescent, Courtney Street, Hull. He had served eleven years and was concluding his last year in the Reserves. Before being called up, he worked for the Hull & Barnsley railways, on Alexandra Dock. His father and another brother were also employed with this company. He had served in the South African war and was 29 years old.
