BORN EGREMONT, CHESHIRE 1894. SON OF FRANK COCKER (1865-1922) AND ANNIE HANCOCK (1871- ), OF 58, AUCKLAND AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 22, NEWLAND AVENUE, HULL (1911 CENSUS). GRANDSON OF MRS M WALTON AT 34, NEWLAND AVENUE, HULL. SON OF A BOOTMAKER AND SHOE SHOP MANAGER. HE HAD TWO YOUNGER BROTHERS, ARNOLD AND ERIC. EDUCATED AT HULL TECHNICAL COLLEGE. HE WAS A DENTAL STUDENT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 19/04/1915, AS PRIVATE, 1281, 10TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY, 90TH SIEGE BATTERY. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 18/06/1917, AGED 23 AT THE 73RD AMBULANCE UNIT. BURIED IN BELGIUM.

HE WAS UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, FRANK.
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE HULL TECHNICAL COLLEGE ROLL OF HONOUR, PARK STREET, HULL.
