BORN AYSGARTH, HAWES, YORKSHIRE 1887. SON OF ELIZABETH COCKETT (1865-1933), OF 27, SARAH ANN TERRACE, WATERLOO STREET, HULL. ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN WHOSE SURNAME WAS “MOORE”. HE WAS POSSIBLY ADOPTED, BORN OUT OF WEDLOCK OR A HALF SIBLING?

HE ENLISTED AT PRESTON. SERVED WITH 1ST BATTALION SCOTS GUARDS, AND POSTED TO FRANCE WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. HE WAS KILLED IN YPRES, ON 29/10/1914, AGED 27. AND COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES, MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM, TO THE MISSING.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, DINAH BAXTER, (1892-1965), AND GRANDMOTHER, MRS SARAH ANN DOVER. HIS WIDOW, DINAH, LIVED AT 85, WAVERLEY STREET, HULL & 3, GILLETT STREET, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES).
HE IS LISTED ON HULL’S WALKER STREET MEMORIAL. CONNECTION UNKNOWN.?
HIS BROTHER, GUNNER, JOHN MOORE, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 22/05/1918, AGED 23.
