BORN HULL 1898. SON OF JOHN WILLIAM & GERTRUDE COCKIN. LOST AT SEA, ON 09/08/1918, AGED 20. SGT. HAROLD COCKIN, RAMC SERVED AT SAME ADDRESS.

SS Tewfikieh, built by R. Napier & Sons, Glasgow in 1893 and owned at the time of her loss by Khedivial Mail SS. & Graving Dock Co., London, was a British steamer of 2.490 tons.
On June 9th, 1918, Tewfikieh, on a voyage from Hull to Alexandria with a cargo of coal and general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine UB-105 (Wilhelm Marschall), 115 miles WNW of Alexandria. 5 persons were lost.
