Collins, George Ernest

BORN 1895. SON OF JAMES & CHARLOTTE COLLINS OF 2 WEST DOCK STREET, HESSLE ROAD (CWGC ADDRESS). SERVED AS PRIVATE, 9618, 1ST LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE, ON 13/08/1914. HE SAW ACTION AT THE 1ST AND 2ND BATTLES OF YPRES. HE WAS SHOT FOR DESERTION IN THE FIELD. ON 15TH FEBRUARY 1915, AGED 20.

HE IS BURIED AT LOKER CHURCHYARD, BELGIUM. HIS MEDALS WERE FORFEITED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS FATHER JAMES. HIS DEATH WAS RECORDED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 15/02/1916.
