
Born July 23, 1897, Beverley, Yorkshire, England. Son of Charles and Hannah Compton of Beverley and Toronto, Ontario. He is commemorated on the Beverley WW1 Memorial where he was born.
He emigrated to Canada in 1914. Employed on a farm at Indian River, Ontario.
He enlisted on October 27, 1915, Toronto, Ontario. Served in the 60th Canadian Infantry. He was a signaller and had had been at the front for two months, when he was killed in action, on 26/11/1916, aged 19.
He is buried at NINE ELMS MILITARY CEMETERY (France), Pas de Calais, France.
He was brother of Pte, Charles Duncan Compton, 18th Battalion, killed in action at Vimy 9 April 1917.
His other brother Percy Compton, served in the Royal field Artillery in England. Another brother, Charles Compton, was only 17 years old and serving as a Signaller in the 124th CEF.
