HE ENLISTED IN HULL. POSTED ABROAD ON 14/07/1915. SERVED WITH THE 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE PIONEER BATTALION. HE WAS KILLED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 09/08/1915, TAKING THE TEPPE TEKE RIDGE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER WHO MOVED TO 29 ANN’S PLACE, SYKES STREET, HULL.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ST CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH MEMORIAL. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE HELLES MEMORIAL, AT THE DARDANELLES. HIS NAMES IS ALSO RECORDED AS KILLED ON THE SYKES STREET ROLL OF HONOUR, HULL (Hull Daily Mail 09 October 1916)
