Constable, Albert

Private, Albert Constable, 5th Yorkshire Regiment.

BORN BARTON 1892. SON OF GEORGE & MARY CONSTABLE, OF 25 MINSTER MOORGATE, BEVERLEY. A GENERAL LABOURER. HE ENLISTED IN BEVERLEY. SERVED WITH THE 6TH YORKSHIRE HUSSARS. HE WAS KILLED AT ARRAS, ON 26/06/1917, AGED 24. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON HULL’S MARFLEET ROLL OF HONOUR. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE BEVERLEY’S WW1 MEMORIAL, MEMORIAL GARDENS.

Albert was born and christened in 1892 in Barton upon Humber. He was son of George and Mary Constable.

Albert enlisted in the Army in Beverley and joined the 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment as a private.

He was wounded on 22 March and killed in action on 26 June 1917.

Albert Constable is remembered on the Arras Memorial in France and has no known grave.
