HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE SOMERSET STREET ROLL OF HONOUR. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 06/10/1916.

HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE ALSO REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES ON 19/06/1915, WITH OTHER LOST CREW MEMBERS. NOTE: JAMES COWLEY – 309 BOULEVARD. HE IS COMMEMORATED AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL
Argyll (H 923) or Argyle (both names used), built by Mackie & Thomson, Govan in 1906 and owned at the time of her loss by Gt. Northern Steamship Fishing Co. Ltd., Hull, was a British trawler of 280 tons. On June 15th, 1915, Argyll was sunk by a mine from the German submarine UC-11 (Walter Gottfried Schmidt), 12 miles ESE of Harwich. 7 persons were lost.
