BORN HULL 1892. SON OF GEORGE COWLING & ETHEL (HARROD). LEFT SISTER FLORENCE. A TIN LABOURER. SECOND ENGINEER ON THE ‘SEBASTIAN’ LOST AT SEA ON 22/05/1915, WITH THE LOSS OF ALL NINE CREW.
On May 22nd, 1915, the British steel trawler SEBASTIAN left Hull, and went missing. She was not heard of ever since. All nine crew are commemorated on the Tower Hill Naval Memorial, London.
