MARRIED 1908. BEFORE ENLISTING HE HAD WORKED AT SISSONS, STONEFERRY, SINCE HE WAS 14.

HE ENLISTED AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR AND SERVED IN EGYPT AND THE DARDENELLES BEFORE ARRIVING IN FRANCE IN MARCH 1916. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 21/09/1916, AGED 28. COMMEMORATED ON THE POZIERES MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE.

HE LEFT A WIFE MARGARET (GRIFFIN) & TWO SONS JAMES AND JOHN, AT  12 LABURNHAM AVENUE, WESTMORELAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HIS NAME LISTED ON ST CHARLES CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR, JARRATT STREET, HULL.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 10TH OCTOBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.*
