BORN HULL 1897. SON OF SAMUEL & HARRIET ANN CRAVEN, OF 6 ELIZA’S PLACE, WALKER STREET, HULL. THE FAMILY ALSO LIVED 12 SYDNEY TERRACE, LONDESBOROUGH STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED AS A BOY SOLDIER, IN HULL, BEFORE WAR BEGAN. HE SERVED AS PRIVATE, 3/6155, 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE 0N 08/09/1914. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 28/10/1914, AGED 17. HIS DEATH, ADDRESS AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 23RD NOVEMBER 1914. *
HIS NAME WAS RECORDED ON THE WAR MEMORIAL AT ST THOMAS CHURCH, CAMPBELL STREET, WHICH WAS DESTROYED IN AN AIR RAID DURING WW2.

HE DIED WITH JOHN THOMPSON, IN THE SAME REGIMENT FROM OSBORNE STREET, HULL.
