BORN DONCASTER 1885. SON OF JOHN FRANCIS CREASER (1856-1912) & HARRIET ADAMSON (1858-1948). HE MARRIED IN GOOLE, IN 1915. HUSBAND OF EVA BRANHAM, OF 20 FIFTH AVENUE, GOOLE. A SECOND MATE (1911) AND ABLE SEAMAN IN THE MERCHANT NAVY. LOST ON THE STEAM SHIP “UNITY”, BY ENEMY ACTION, ON 02/05/1918, AGED 32. RECORDED IN THE HULL MERCHANT NAVY RECORDS.
SS Unity, built by Murdoch & Murray, Port Glasgow in 1902 and owned at the time of her loss by Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Co., Goole, was a British steamer of 1.091 tons.
On May 2nd, 1918, Unity, on a voyage from Newhaven to Calais with a cargo of ordinance, was sunk by the German submarine UB-57 (Johannes Lohs), 9 miles southeast of Folkestone. 12 persons were lost.
