HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS CORPORAL, 5480, 11TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. KILLED IN ACTION, AT THE SOMME, ON 04/10/1916, AGED 24. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, GEORGE AND MOTHER AMELIA.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE GARDENERS SOCIETY MEMORIAL, AT HULL’S HOLY TRINITY MINSTER.
