BORN NEW HOLLAND, LINCS, 1895. SON OF ROBERT AND SARAH ELIZABETH CRESSEY, OF 29, DOCK STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HIS PARENTS WERE BOTH BORN IN LINCOLNSHIRE. SON OF A HULL CORPORATION LABOURER. ONE OF TEN CHILDREN.

EMPLOYED AS A POLISHER. PRIOR TO WAR, WORKED FOR MESSRS MOOR & ROBSON, WHO HE HAD BEEN EMPLOYED WITH SINCE LEAVING SCHOOL.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, IN AUGUST 1914. SERVED WITHTHE 1/4TH EYR. WENT TO FRANCE ON 17/04/1915 WITH COLONEL SHAW. KILLED DURING THE 1918 GERMAN SPRING OFFENSIVE. REPORTED MISSING ON 31ST MARCH 1918. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MAOTHER, SARAH ELIZABETH.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ST MARY’S CHURCH MEMORIAL, LOWGATE. HDM 14/05/1919. HIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS PRINTED IN THE HDM ON 15TH MAY 1919. *
