Son of Simeon Crompton (1872-1945) and Jane Taylor (1874-1922), of 123, Philimore Road., Attercliffe, Sheffield.

Married at Sculcoates, Hull, 1915. Husband of Alice Maud Seaman (1896-1966), of 14, Rowland Terrace, Nornabell Street., Holderness Road, Hull (CWGC address). They had two children, Harold Simeon and Jenny.

Enlisted at Sheffield. Formerly 1377, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Transferred to the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), 224th Coy.  Killed in action, on Sunday, 3 Jun 1917, aged 20. His army effects were left to his widow, Alice. She re-married and moved to 62, Lilac Avenue, Garden Village, Hull (War pension records). Weekly war Pension awarded was 22/11.

Buried Bailleul Road East Cemetery, St Laurent- Blangy, France. His CWGC grave, reads, GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
