BORN HULL 1889. SON OF JAMES WILLIAM CROSS (1860-1951) & JANE (OTTER) CROSS OF 8, RICHMOND TERRACE, CHARLES STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. SON OF A DOCK. HE ALSO WORKED AS A DOCK LABOURER.

HE ENLISTED HULL, ON 07/09/1914. JOINED THE 1ST/1ST EAST RIDING YEOMANRY, “B” SQUARDON. SERVED IN THE MIDDLE EAST. DIED OF WOUNDS, IN PALESTINE, ON 15/11/1917, AGED 28. HE IS COMMEMORATED IN THE GAZA WAR CEMETERY.

A SINGLE MAN. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JAMES. HE LEFT BROTHERS, BERNARD, JOHN AND DUDLEY, AND SISTERS, MABEL AND PHYLLIS.
