BORN HULL 20/11/1894. WIFE HENRIETTA (McKAY) ABOVE. SON OF FRANCIS CUNNINGSWORTH (1862-1924) & HELENA MAUD POPPLEWELL (1870-1930), OF 43 WOODCOCK STREET, HULL. SECOND OF TWELVE CHILDREN. HE LIVED AT THIS CWGC ADDRESS. HE ENLISTED IN 1914 AND WAS DISCHARGED IN 1919, HAVING SERVED ON HMS “OCEAN QUEEN” AND “CHRYSEA”. WAS FIRST ENGINEER, ON THE HULL TRAWLER, “ISLE OF MAN”. LOST WITH ALL HANDS, ON 14/12/1919. MOST POSSIBLY BY A SEA MINE.
On December 14th, 1919, the British trawler ISLE OF MAN went missing in the North Sea with all on board. She was not heard of ever since.
