Born Beverley, 10/10/1896. Son of Peter Dale and Elizabeth Barmby. His mother died aged 26 in 1900, and he was sent to live with his Aunt and Uncle, hannah and Stephen Lazenby, at Bilton Junction, near Harrogate. he attended school at Bilton, until his father remarried in 1902. Peter left school at 14 and worked as a gardener (1911 Census).
He enlisted in Leeds and joined the 3rd Grenadier Guards, he arrived in France, on 05/10/1915. Already Twice wounded. He fought at the Third Battle of Ypres in 1917. He died of wounds on the 08/08/1917, aged 21 and is commemorated on the Ypres, Menin Gate Memorial. His army effects were left to his uncle Stephen.
