BORN HULL 27/09/1879. SON OF ROBERT DALES & REBECCA BAINTON. ONE OF FIVE CHILDREN. LIVING AT 10 WHITBY GROVE, LIVERPOOL ST. MARRIED IN 1903. WIFE EMILY MARIA HAME AND CHILDREN JOHN ROBERT AND GLADYS, LIVED ABOVE. FISHERMAN. KILLED BY A MINE EXPLOSION OF THE COAST OF HAVRE ON 11TH APRIL 1917, AGED 38. HIS ADDRESS IS LISTED IN CWGC NAVAL RECORDS. HE IS COMMEMORATED AT CHATHAM TOWER HILL MEMORIAL.
Amy HMT was a former fishing vessel hired by the admiralty as a minesweeper. On the 11th April 1917 she was mined and sunk off Le Harve. The following Nine crew were lost.
