BORN ST DONGMAELS, CARDIGANSHIRE, IRELAND 1889. SON OF WILLIAM AND MARY DAVIES, WEST BROMWHICH, STAFFS. WORKED IN A SHOE MAKERS FACTORY BEFORE JOINING THE KINGS OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY ON 21/09/1907. WAS UNDERWEIGHT ON ENLISTMENT DUE TO HARD WORK. SERVED IN ALDERSHOT AND DUBLIN. MARRIED IN CORK ON 13/08/1913. WIFE MARY SULLIVAN DAVIES LIVED AT THIS ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS. . POSTED TO FRANCE ON 10/8/1914. WAS WOUNDED 23 DAYS AND INVALIDED BACK FOR HOME SERVICE. HE WAS DISCHARGED, ON 02/10/1916, WITH TUBERCULOSIS, AGGRAVATED BY MILITARY SERVICE AND LONG HOURS IN THE SHOE FACTORY. HE DIED IN HULL SANATORIUM ON 23/03/1917. BURIED IN HULL WESTERN CEMETERY. SOME 100 SOLDIERS ATTENDED HIS MILITARY FUNERAL (HULL DAILY MAIL 31/03/1917).
