Dawson, Arthur Mason

Arthur Mason Dawson

Born Hull, 1896. Son of Arthur Mason Dawson (1873-1914) and Rebecca Hardy (1870-1902), of 8, Newcomen Street, Hull. Son of a Stone dresser. He had one elder brother, Clarence John and one sister, Nellie.

He enlisted at Stamford, Lincs. Served with the 6th Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds, on 06/11/1918, aged 21.

Buried at Roisin Communal Cemetery, Hainaut, Belgium. His grave inscription reads, “A MEMORY THAT WILL NEVER FADE”

He left £80 in his Will to his elder brother, Clarence Dawson, a labourer, living at 90 West Parade, Spring Bank, Hull. He also left his army effects to Clarence, who served in the war, as Private, 11123, Yorkshire Regiment.
