BORN HULL 1893. SECOND SON OF GEORGE WILLIAM DAY & ANN ELIZABETH THOMPSON, OF 12 GLASS HOUSE ROW, CLEVELAND STREET, HULL (1901 CENSUS). SON OF  A CORPORATION, ROAD LABOURER. ONE OF THREE CHILDREN. ELDER SISTER WAS AGNES. THE FAMILY LATER MOVED TO 164 UNION STREET, HARGREASE SQUARE, SHIPLEY YORKS. HE WORKED AS AN IRON TURNER, AND BOARDED AT 154 UNION STREET, SHIPLEY, YORKSHIRE (1911 CENSUS), WITH HIS SISTER, EDITH AND HER HUSBAND FRED BUSFIELD. HE MARRIED DORIS CONSTANTINE, AT SHIPLEY, ON 04/07/1914. HE ENLISTED IN SHIPLEY, YORKS. EX PRIVATE, 205693, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 44151, 7TH LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 19/09/1918. AGED 25. HE IS BURIED AT ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY. HE WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS WIDOW DORIS AND DAUGHTER, KATHLEEN.
HIS ELDER BROTHER, PRIVATE, 18/903, THOMAS HENRY DAY, 2ND WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED AT YPRES, ON 24/06/1917, AGED 27.
