BORN HULL 1891. SON OF WALTER DEAKIN (1859-1903) & SARAH ELIZABETH DEAKIN (1860-1934), of 69, GIBSON STREET, SYKES STREET, HULL & 5, SYDNEY TERRACE, GRANGE STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE LOST HIS FATHER WHEN HE WAS 12 YEARS OLD. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. HIS BROTHERS GEORGE WILLIAM, ALFRED, WALTER, CHARLES H DEAKIN ALSO SERVED.

PETER WORKED AS A GENERAL LABOURER, LIVING AT 15, SEATON STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). HE ENLISTED AT HULL. SERVED WITH THE 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE PIONEERS, LEFT ENGLAND ON 14/07/1915 AND WAS KILLED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 09/08/1915, AGED 24. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, MATILDA, AT 9 WILSON ROW, WINCOLMLEE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ST CHARLES BORROMEO WW1 CHURCH MEMORIAL. HE IS RECORDED KILLED ON THE SCOTT STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (Hull Daily Mail 09 October 1916)

HE LEFT A WIDOW,  MATILDA DEAKIN, 9 WILSON ROW, WINCOLMLEE. (HDM 09/10/1916).
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON 23RD NOVEMBER 1915. *

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, ALFRED DEAKIN, 267490, 9TH NFUS, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/09/1918, AGED 35. BURIED AT ROYAL IRISH RIFLES GRAVEYARD, LAVENTIE, FRANCE.
