Deyes, John William

Born Hull, 1896. Only son of John and Susan Anne Deyes, of 13 Lake Street Hull. He had five sisters. Worked as a Car conductor and Tram Diver. Described as 5 foot, 7 inches tall, 123 lbs weight, 35-37 inch chest, brown eyes, dark brown hair, Church of England religion.

He married Lilian Lawson at St Silas Church, Hull, on 10/07/1910. She lived at 8 McKinley Avenue, Albemarle Street, Boulevard, Hull (Army address) and 39 Bean Street, Hull (War Pension address).

He enlisted in the Hull Pals, on 10/09/1914. Discharged from the army as unfit, on 15/05/1916. He had served in the army for 1 year and 249 days. Awarded the Silver Wound Badge No:112088.

Buried in Hull. He left £1,119 to his widow, Lilian, in his will at 21 Jesmond Gardens, Hull (Probate address).
