BORN HULL 1896. ELDEST SON OF JOHN WILLIAM DIBNAH & HENRIETTA BARNETT, LIVING AT 145 HODGSON STREET (1911 CENSUS) AND AT 10 RALEIGH AVENUE, CORNWALL STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION AND ARMY ADDRESS). EMPLOYED AS AN ERRAND BOY (1911 CENSUS0 AND AS A ENGINEER, FOR MR JOHN BOOTY, BEDFORD STREET, WILCOLMLEE HULL.

HE JOINED THE ARMY ON 20/05/1914, AGED 18 YEARS AND ONE MONTH. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 1868 4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HIS ARMY RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM AS 5 FOOT 3 INCHES TALL, WITH A SIZE 37 INCH CHEST. HE TRAINED AT NEWCASTLE, WITH HIS BROTHER GEORGE.

HE WENT TO FRANCE WITH COLONEL SHAW AND ARRIVED ON 19/04/1915. POSTED TO ARMY CYCLIST CORPS, ON 01/11/1916. HE WAS KILLED DRIVING HIS TRACTOR BACK TO THE YARD, ON 29/09/1917, AGED 21. HE IS BURIED IN BELGIUM. HE HAD RETURNED FROM HOME HOME LEAVE JUST TWO MONTHS BEFORE. HE WAS UNMARRIED. HIS FEW ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS MOTHER HENRIETTA. HE LEFT BROTHERS GEORGE, CHARLIE AND SISTER HENRIETTA.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 19/10/1917. *

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, GEORGE R. DIBNAH, 4TH EYR, WAS THE AWARDED THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL. (DCM).
