BORN HULL 1893. STEPSON OF ARTHUR JAMES BOWER AND MARY JANE BOWER. HIS WIFE ETHEL MAY (DADDY) LIVED AT THE ABOVE ADDRESS AND THEY HAD A SON, LESLIE, BORN IN 1916. HIS STEP PARENTS LIVED – 19 POPLAR STREET, CHAPMAN STREET, HULL. BEFORE THE WAR HE WAS A BOILER MAKER AND ENGINE CLEANER. ENLISTED HULL 22/09/1914. POSTED TO FRANCE 23/07/1917. RETURNED HOME ON 04/03/1919. DIED OF PNEUMONIA ON 18/03/1919, AGED 26, WORSENED BY HIS OVERSEAS SERVICE. THE DOCTOR REPORTED HE HAD BEEN IN A1 CONDITION ON JOINING, BUT WAS B2 ON DEMOBILISATION. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE KINGS HALL METHODIST CHURCH ROH. HE IS BURIED AT HULL’S HEDON ROAD CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “MEMORIES ETHEL, LESLIE & MOTHER”
