BORN HULL 24/11/1882. ELDEST SON OF THOMAS HAIGH DIMMACK (1860-1902) & SARAH ANN GILL (1861-1915). ONE OF & SEVEN CHILDREN – 11 CONWAY TERRACE, STRICKLAND STREET, HULL (1901 CENSUS). HE WORKED AS A COAL HEAVER ON HULL DOCKS.
HE MARRIED ANN SOPHIA WRIGHT (1881-1966) IN 1903. HIS WIFE LIVED AT 6 VICTORIA AVENUE, WOODCOCK STREET (1911 CENSUS) AND THIS CWGC ADDRESS. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 8TH EAST SURREY REGIMENT. WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 07/08/1916, AGED 33. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT WITH HIS WIDOW, ANN SOPHIA. HE IS BURIED IN FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “I HAVE FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT”

HE LOST TWO BROTHERS IN THE WAR:
L/CPL, THOMAS DIMMACK, 31012, 1ST EYR, DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 21/04/1918, AGED 34, AND PTE, JOSEPH DIMMACK,12/303, 12TH EYR, KILLED IN ACTION 19/10/1918, AGED 22.
