Dobbs, Charles William

Born Hull 1895. Son of John William Dobbs and Harriet Dobbs of Wheeler Street, Hull. He ahd a younger brother Jack who served in the East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire Regiment and an elder sister, Susy Dobbs.

Husband of Maud Henrietta Dobbs, of 9, Princes Avenue, Wheeler Street, Hull (War Pension address).

He was a wagon repairer for the Hull & Barnsley Railway Line. Described as 5 foot, 6.5 inches tall, 36-39 inch chest, good physical development.

He enlisted at Hull, as Private, 1506, 1/4th East Yorkshire Territorials, on 14th April 1913. Qualified as Signaller and Grenadier. Served as Acting Sergeant, Durham Light Infantry. Discharged on 6th March 1919 (40% disability). Died of leg injury, diabetes and heart failure, on 4th August 1922, aged 27.
