Dobson, Henry Jones

Born Hull, 1885. Son of Octavius Dobson (1855-1929) and Annie Elizabeth Hornby, of 62, Northumberland Avenue, Hull. He had one brother Albert and four sisters, Emily, Ellen, Dorothyand Annie Eliza.

He married Alice Hopper (1890-1964), 0n 12 Nov 1910, at St Silas church, Hull. Husband of Alice Dobson, of 11, Gertrude Terrace, Northumberland Avenue, Hull (1911 Census), 76 Oxford Street, Hull (Army address) and  7, Bright’s Grove, Northumberland Avenue, Hull (War pension address). They had three daughter. He was a Brass Moulder. Described as 5 foot, 7.5 inches tall, 134 lbs weight, 34-36 inch chest, Blue eyes, Light Brown hair, Church of England religion.

He enlisted at Hull, on 24/08/1914. Had a poor disciplinary record, including being court martiled for absence during training and forfeiting pay. Served as Private, 10521, 10th East Yorkshire regiment. Wounded in May 1917. Transferred to the Royal Army Service Corps on 28/11/1917, Discharged 27/03/1918. Awarded the Silver Wound Badge (No: 375464)

Died at Hull. on 02/11/1930, aged 45. Buried at Hull Northern Cemetery.
