BORN HULL 1890. SON OF JOHN DODSLEY (1847-1919) & ELIZABETH DODSLEY, OF 7, CORONATION AVENUE, WITHERNSEA STREET, HULL. ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN. HE WAS THE YOUNGER BROTHER, OF MRS JONES, ST MARKS STREET, WILMINGTON, HULL.

LIKE HIS BROTHER, GEORGE, HE WAS A REGULAR SOLDIER WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, BEFORE WAR BEGAN. PROMOTED TO SERGEANT. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 04/06/1916, AGED 26. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 19/06/1916 & 28/06/1916. *

JAMES IS BURIED ON THE SOMME, AT NORFOLK CEMETERY, BECORDEL-BECOURT. HE IS LISTED ON THE WILMINGTON MEMORIAL, SUTTON, WITH HIS BROTHER, GEORGE HENRY DODSLEY, ALSO OF THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WHO DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 05/05/1915.
