BORN HULL 22/11/1896. SON OF JAMES MATTHEW DOODSWORTH (1866-1942) AND ALICE SMITH (1867-1950), OF 5 YORK TERRACE, RUSTENBURG STREET, HULL. SECOND OF FOUR CHILDREN. EDEST SON OF A WATCHMAKER. HUSBAND OF GERTRUDE ANNIE WILSON (1894-1974), AT 27 GREAT UNION STREET, HEDON ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE MARRIED GERTRUDE ANN WILSON AT HULL, EARLY 1916. POSTED TO FRANCE WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS INVALIDED BACK TO ENGLAND. DIED OF WOUNDS, AT ST LUKE’S WAR HOSPITAL, ON 25/06/1916, AGED 20. HE IS BURIED AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, GERTRUDE. HIS WAR PENSION WAS CLAIMED BY HIS MOTHER, ALICE, WHO MOVED TO 36 PELHAM STREET, HULL.
