Drury, Joseph Harrison

BORN HULL 1898. SON OF FREDRICK HENRY DRURY & ELIZABETH PINE, OF 11 IRELAND TERRACE, WALCOTT STREET, HULL. BROTHER OF FRED DRURY, OF 9 GRANVILLE TERRACE, STRICKLAND STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED UNDER AGE IN HULL. GIVING THE AGE OF 18 WHEN HE WAS ONLY 16 YEARS OLD. HE JOINED THE 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE (PIONEERS) BATTALION BASED IN BEVERLEY. HE LEFT FOR GALLIPOLI ON 14/07/1915, AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 06/08/1915, AGED 18. HIS BODY WAS NEVER FOUND. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE HELLES MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS UNCLE, JOHN McCORMICK, AT MESSRS H MOSES & SONS LTD.
