BORN NEWINGTON, 1890. SON OF CHARLES EDWARDS (1865-1948) AND LAVINIA FRETWELL (1865-1911), OF 96, MANCHESTER STREET, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 2, HARROW TERRACE, HARROW STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A FISH DOCK ABOURER. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. (THREE SONS WERE KILLED IN THE WAR. HE WORKED AS A COKE MAKER IN AN IRON FOUNDRY, BOARDING AT 144 EDINBURGH STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS).

HE MARRIED ANNIE ELIZABETH WHITWORTH (1890-1932), AT HULL, IN 1915. THEY LIVED AT 3, GLASGOW STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HAD TWO CHILDREN, HARRY AND IRIS.

ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED IN THE 2ND WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. PROMOTED TO LANCE SERGEANT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 24/04/1918, AGED 28. BURIED ON THE SOMME, FRANCE.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.

HIS BROTHERS, CHARLES HENRY EDWARDS AND JAMES ALFRED EDWARDS SERVED IN THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE.

THE THREE EDWARDS BROTHERS LOST IN THE WAR WERE;-
