Ely, Stanley

Born Seaton, Hull, 1893. Son of Elizabeth and William Ely, of Back Lane, Back Road, Linton, Cambridgeshire (1911 Census). A Farm Labourer.

Enlisted at Driffield. Formerly, Private, 2813, East Yorkshire Regiment. Posted to France, on 18th April 1915. Transferred to the 5th Yorkshire Hussars (Alexandra, Princes of Wales’ Own). Killed in action, on 27/05/1918, aged 24.

Commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, France. His army effects were left to his brothers, William, Ernest, Frederick & Herbert.
