BORN HULL 1899. SON OF JAMES EVANS 91855-1925) & MARY ELIZABETH EVANS (1855-1908)OF 6 THORNTON SQUARE, POSTERNGATE, HULL (1901 CENSUS) AND 25 BLACKFRIGATE, HULL (1911 CENSUS). SON OF A WAREHOUSE LABOURER. YOUNGEST OF TEN CHILDREN. HE HAD SIX ELDER SISTERS AND THREE BROTHERS.

ENLISTED HULL SERVED AS A DRIVER IN THE 251ST ROYAL FIELD ARTILLEY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 31/03/1918, AGED 19.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS ELDEST SISTER, PHOEBE CRAIN, OF 36, NORFOLK STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
