BORN CHASE TOWN, STAFFORDSHIRE,  31/10/1885. SON OF ENOCH FAIRFIELD (1859-1950) AND MARY ELLEN DEWSBERRY (1863-1951), OF “THE HOLLIES”, RUGELEY ROAD, CHASE TOWN, STAFFS. HE HAD ONE BROTHER, BRUCE, AND THREE SISTERS, FLORENCE, EUNICE AND ELLEN.

EMPLOYED AS A WAGES CLERK AT THE LOCAL MINING COLLIERY. HE HAD REQUESTED TO JOIN THE ARMY SERVICE CORPS. HE ENLISTED AT LICHFIELD. ON 17/03/1916. SERVED WITH THE 18TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 12/04/1918, AGED 32.

HE MARRIED DORIS MINNIE COLLINS (1893-1981) ON 15/11/1915, AT SPRING ILL, CHASETOWN STAFFS. SHE MOVED TO 4 SUTTON TERRACE, STUDLEY STREET, HULL. THEY HAD ONE SON, RAYMOND ALBERT FAIRFIELD BORN 21/08/1916.
