HE HAD JOINED THE ARMY, IN GRIMSBY, IN 1897. SERVED WITH THE 1ST & 2ND LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 4 INCHES TALL, 136 LBS WEIGHT, 36 INCH CHEST, GREY EYES, BLACK HAIR AND TATTOOS. RE-ENLISTED AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR, ON 28/08/1914, AGED 37. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 08/11/1914. DIED OF WOUNDS SAME DAY, ON 22/07/1915, AGED 38. BURIED IN WHITE CITY CEMETERY, BOIS-GRENIER, NORD, FRANCE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER WILLIAM, AND MRS TYLER FLORENCE HOLMES. HE LEFT TWO BROTHERS JAMES AND JOHN FEENEY AND A STEP SISTER, MARGARET.
