BORN HULL 1875. SON OF THOMAS FENWICK (1845-1914) AND SARAH ANN BINKS (1850-1921), OF 4, COBDEN PLACE, NORFOLK STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS. HIS STEPFATHER, WAS JOHN ROBINSON BARLEY. HE WORKED AS A WOOD CARVER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3 INCHES TALL, 126 LBS WEIGHT, 34.5 INCH CHEST, AND ‘GOOD’ PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT.

HE MARRIED ON 11/03/1911 AT ST PAUL’S CHURCH, HULL. HUSBAND OF ELEANOR BARLEY, OF 3, ANNS PLACE, NEAPUR TERRACE, NORFOLK STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, ON 03/03/1915, AGED 37 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS. TRAINED AT KILLINGTON CAMP. SERVED IN EGYPT AND POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 08/03/1916. KILLED WITH THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRES, AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 41. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 251 DAYS.
