BORN HULL 1899. THIRD SON OF WILLIAM GEORGE & ELIZABETH FINNEY, OF 16 LEE SMITH STREET, HEDON ROAD (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS) AND 86 MERSEY STREET, HULL. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. EMPLOYED AS A FITTER. A SINGLE MAN. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 10 INCHES TALL, 35 INCH CHEST SIZE.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 19/01/1917. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 10/10/1918, AGED 19. HE LEFT SISTERS AND BROTHERS, WILL AND JACK, BOTH SERVING IN FRANCE, (HDM 28/10/1918)

HIS BROTHER, SAPPER, WILIAM FINNEY, ROYAL ENGINEERS, WAS AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL AND CROIX DE GUERRE.
