HE MARRIED FLORRIE HOWIE WILKES, ON 11/08/1900. AT ALL SAINTS CHURCH, SOUTH LAMBETH, LONDON. THEY LIVED AT 93, STEPNEY LANE, BEVERLEY ROAD, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS), WITH THEIR SIX CHILDREN. EMPLOYED AS A GAS STOKER, FOR THE BRITISH GAS LIGHT COMPANY, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 16/10/1914, AGED 34 YEARS AND 6 MONTHS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 7.5 INCHES TALL, 154 LBS WEIGHT, 37 INCH CHEST, GREY EYES, BLACK HAIR. TRAINED AT BEVERLEY, BELTON PARK AND WHITLEY BAY. SERVED AS A LANCE CORPORAL, IN THE 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE PIONEERS. LEFT FOR THE DARDENELLES, ON 29/06/1915. SAW ACTION FROM THE FIRST DAY LANDINGS, ON 08/08/1915 AND AT THE BATTLE FOR SCIMITAR HILL, ON 22/08/1915, CAPTURED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 14/10/1915. HE DIED OF PNEUMONIA, ON 13/01/1917, AGED 39, AS A TURKISH WAR PRISONER, IN ANGORA.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE SENT TO HIS WIDOW FLORRIE, AND DAUGHTER, ELIZABETH RUTH.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE BRITISH GAS LIGHT AND COKE COMPANY WAR MEMORIAL, KEPT AT THE FAKENHAM GAS WORKS MUSEUM, NORFOLK.
HIS BROTHER, TIMOTHY COE FISHER, 134048, ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY, DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 06/08/1918, AGED 44.
