My Great Uncle, Fitter Sergeant AllIison Fitzgerald, 755305, “B” Bty, 251st Bde., served in the Royal Field Artillery, died on 21 May 1917, aged 35 years of age. He is buried at Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux, France. I wonder has anyone else who has supplied information to this page a relation buried in the same cemetery or visited? This is to build a picture of conditions and friends of whom my Great Uncle served with. Thank you. Mary Fitzgerald.
Obituary Notice of Fitter Sergeant Allison Fitzgerald
“Sergt Allison Fitzgerald, R.F.A. has died of wounds received in a trench. Mrs Fitzgerald who resides at 80 Grafton Street, Hull received the official news only a few days ago, which came as a shock as her husband had every hope of recovery. Previous to joining up in September 1914 Sergeant Fitzgerald had followed a Seafaring Life, being a marine engineer. He was well known in local shipping circles having sailed under the Thomas Wilson and Cockerline lines. He also ran with the East Hull Harriers. Sergt Allison Fitzgerald had only been married a few months prior to the outbreak of war and he now leaves a widow and young daughter to mourn their loss.”
