BORN HULL 1898. SON OF FREDERICK & BETSY ANN FOSTER. HIS STEPFATHER JOHN KIRBY LIVED AT 4 STAINIFORTH PLACE, HULL,. HE WORKED FOR MESSRS HAWKSHAWS, SPENCER STREET, HULL AND THEN AT RYMERS, CAVE STREET, HULL.

HE SERVED WITH THE NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. HE HAD BEEN IN FRANCE, FOR FIVE MONTHS, WHEN HE WAS KILLED, ON 12/04/1918, AGED 20. BURIED AT TYNE COT CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HE LEFT SISTERS ANNIE & LILLIAN.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 29/04/1918. *

HIS NAME WAS RECORDED ON THE WAR MEMORIAL AT ST THOMAS CHURCH, CAMPBELL STREET, WHICH WAS DESTROYED IN AN AIR RAID DURING WW2.
