Born Sproatley, East Yorkshire, 1891. Gunner 2392. 1st (East Riding) Battery, 2nd (Northumbrian) Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action 14th February 1916, aged 25 years. Husband of Ethel M Fox. Commemorated Railway Dugouts Burial Ground. III.A.7.

His widow, Ethel, (born 26/04/1890), lived at 119, Selby Street, Hull (War Pension address).

His name is listed on the Sproatley Village memorial. One of 61 men form the Sproatley who served in the Great War, 13 of which died.

His name is also recorded on the WW1 Memorial, at St John The Baptist Church, Newington, Hull.
