Frank, Alfred

Born Knottingley, 1863. Son of Edward Frank (1821-1874) and Sarah West Arnold (1824-1904). One of nine children.

Served as Chief Officer, or First Mate, Alfred Frank in the Merchant Navy. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 11/09/1917. Lost at sea returning to England, on HMS transports – s/s “Taplow”. Died on 05/06/1917, aged 53.

He belonged to an old seafaring family in Hull. Joined the Merchant Navy, on 15/10/1877. He was connected with the South American trades and voyages. He resided at 219, Marlborough Avenue, Hull (CWGC & Probate Address). Died on 05/06/1917, aged 53.

He left a widow Alice Louisa Alexander (1867-1958), son Alfred (1892-1941), who was serving with the forces in India, and two daughters – one Mrs Bernard Dales, the other unmarried. He left £616 in his will to his widow.
