BORN HULL 1888. SON OF STEPHEN FREEMAN & SARAH ELIZABETH FREEMAN, OF 28, EXCHANGE STREET, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). ONE OF SIX SONS AND NO SISTERS.

HUSBAND OF CATHERINE NORTON, OF 2, ELLEN’S TERRACE, FINSBURY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE WORKED TEN YEARS FOR MESSRS, HOLMES TANERY SCULOCATES LANE.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL IN SEPTEMBER 1914. HE SERVED WITH THE 11TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS MENTIONED IN DISPATCHES FOR CONSPICIOUS BRAVERY IN THE FIELD, BETWEEN THE 7TH AND 12TH JUNE 1917

THOMAS FREEMAN WAS KILLED WHILE UNDERTAKING STRETCHER BEARER DUTIES, ON 20/09/1917, AGED 29.

HE IS COMMEMORATED AT THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL. ALSO ON THE MEMORIAL AT ST MARYS CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.

HIS BROTHERS ALSO SERVED – ALFRED (RFA), ARTHUR (NOTTS), STEPHEN (EYR) & WALTER (RFA)) – HIS BROTHERS WERE PICTURED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 16/02/1916. *
